Old Sturbridge Village
Open Air Museum · Sturbridge, Massachusetts
The largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast — two hundred-odd acres of central Massachusetts laid out as a rural New England town of the 1790s to 1830s, built from more than forty genuine period buildings moved here from across the region rather than reconstructed. Costumed historians work a farm with heritage breeds, a water-powered sawmill and gristmill, a blacksmith's forge, a tin shop, a pottery and a printing office, and they are doing the actual work rather than performing it.
