Onondaga Cave State Park

Show Cave · Leasburg, Missouri

A National Natural Landmark cave on the Meramec River near Leasburg, and one of the more spectacular show caves in a state that has more caves than almost any other. It was a private tourist attraction for decades - and was very nearly flooded by the Meramec Park Dam before that project was defeated in the 1970s - before the state took it over and made it a park in 1982. The formations are the reason to come: the Lily Pad Room and the King's Canopy are the two most people remember.

7556 Highway H, Leasburg, Missouri, 65535, United States

The park is FREE and open daily. THE CAVE IS BY GUIDED TOUR ONLY AND IS TICKETED, running on a posted schedule that is seasonal - daily in summer, reduced in spring and autumn, and CLOSED FOR MUCH OF THE WINTER. Tours sell out on summer weekends. Cathedral Cave, the second cave, runs a shorter and more limited lantern-tour season. Check the schedule before travelling; the park without the cave is a pleasant riverside park and not much more.
