Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Stadium · Baltimore, Maryland
The ballpark that changed American stadium architecture. When it opened in 1992 every other park built since the 1960s had been a circular concrete bowl shared with a football team; this one was asymmetrical, brick, wedged into the city street grid, and built around a hundred-year-old railway warehouse instead of demolishing it. Every retro ballpark in the country is descended from it. Babe Ruth was born two blocks away and his father's saloon stood roughly where centre field is now.

Baseball season runs from late March or early April to the end of September, with roughly 81 home dates; gates generally open two hours before first pitch and Eutaw Street opens with them. GUIDED STADIUM TOURS run most days year round, roughly 90 minutes, booked separately and ahead. The complex is shared with M&T Bank Stadium next door — check both schedules, because two events on one day makes the district and its parking impossible.
