Oscar Scherer State Park

Florida State Park · Osprey, Florida

A pocket of scrubby flatwoods between Sarasota and Venice holding one of the most reliable populations of Florida scrub-jay left in the state — a bird found nowhere else on Earth, and declining fast as its habitat is built over. South Creek runs through the park to the Gulf, and the swimming lake and campground make it the obvious green stop on a heavily developed coast.

1843 South Tamiami Trail, Osprey, Florida, 34229, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year.
