Pahrump Valley Winery

Winery And Restaurant In The Pahrump Valley, About An Hour West Of Las Vegas, Growing Some Of Nevada'S Own Grapes (Claim) · Pahrump, Nevada

Pahrump Valley Winery is a winery, tasting room and restaurant on Winery Road in Pahrump, about an hour west of Las Vegas over Mountain Springs Summit on NV 160, and it is one of only a handful of wineries in Nevada. Its appeal is the novelty of tasting wine made in the Mojave Desert rather than the depth of a real wine region: most of the range is reportedly made from grapes bought in from California, while a smaller set of wines is made from grapes grown in Nevada, including in the Pahrump Valley itself, and those are the bottles to ask about. The mission-style building holds a tasting bar, a gift shop and a restaurant, known as Symphony's, that is one of the better sit-down meals in town; check it is still running. Short tours of the small cellar have been offered at set times. Sanders Family Winery, a smaller neighbour, makes an easy second stop, and Pahrump itself is a cheap base with fuel, casinos and supermarkets for the east side of Death Valley. Someone in the group needs to be the designated driver for the mountain road back to Las Vegas.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the tasting room and gift shop have opened daily from late morning, around 10 or 11 am, to late afternoon or early evening, around 5 pm, with the restaurant serving lunch and dinner on a more limited schedule that can skip some days of the week; cellar tours, when offered, run at set times. The traps that ruin a visit are driving an hour to find the restaurant closed that day, arriving just after a coach group, missing the last tasting before closing, and a winter storm closing Mountain Springs Summit on the way. Sanders Family Winery keeps shorter, separate hours. Confirm current times before relying on them.
