Paisley Park
Specialty Museum · Chanhassen, Minnesota
Prince's studio complex and home in Chanhassen, a plain white 65,000-square-foot box beside a suburban road that he built in 1987 and worked in for nearly thirty years. He recorded, rehearsed, filmed and held late-night concerts here, and he died here in April 2016. It opened to the public that October, largely as he left it — the studios, the soundstage, the kitchen, the rehearsal rooms and his instruments in place. It is toured on a timed ticket with no photography permitted anywhere inside, which is a deliberate condition rather than an inconvenience.
