Palm Springs Modernism District

Modern Architecture · Palm Springs, California

The largest concentration of preserved mid-century modern architecture anywhere in the world, spread across a small desert city that Hollywood used as a weekend retreat when studio contracts required staying within two hours of the lot. Neutra, Lautner, Frey, Wexler and Krisel all built here, and most of it is still lived in.

2901 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California, 92262, United States

Neighbourhoods open always; houses are private. Visitor centre has its own hours. Best November-April.
