Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook
A Gorge Park On The Coaticook River With A 169 M Long Suspension Footbridge, Among The Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridges In The World, A Network Of Trails, A Night Walk With Light Shows, And A Campground. A Major Tourist Draw In The Eastern Townships · Coaticook, Quebec
Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook is a gorge park on the Coaticook River, about 5 km from the town of Coaticook and roughly 35 km south of Sherbrooke in the Eastern Townships (confirm distances). The river has cut a deep, narrow gorge through the rock, and the park built its name on a pedestrian suspension footbridge about 169 m long and roughly 50 m above the water, billed as one of the longest of its kind in the world (confirm height). Around it run forest trails along both rims and down to the river, a mountain bike network, a campground, a visitor centre and an old dam with a small power station. After dark in the warm season a night walk through the woods, Foresta Lumina, adds lights, music and projections (confirm dates and ticket rules). The park is run as a regional attraction, not a wilderness reserve, so expect paid entry, staffed gates and well kept paths. Allow two to three hours for the bridge and a loop, or a full day with the night walk.

The park is generally open daily in the warm season, roughly May to October, from about 9 or 10 am to late afternoon or early evening, with longer days in July and August (confirm). The night walk runs after sunset on selected evenings, roughly late June to October, and tickets are often sold in time slots (confirm). Winter opening is limited to snowshoe and cross-country ski outings on part of the trail network, with reduced services and the bridge open only on certain days (confirm). Wind, ice or lightning can close the bridge, so phone or read the park notice before driving out from Sherbrooke.
