Penn's Cave
Show Cave · Centre Hall, Pennsylvania
A limestone cavern in Centre County that is toured entirely by boat, because the passage is a flooded stream from the entrance to the far end — the only all-water cavern open to the public in the United States. A guide takes a flat-bottomed motorboat about half a mile in past formations named in the Victorian manner, turns at a spring-fed lake, and comes back. Above ground the same property runs a wildlife park where a bus tour drives among bison, elk, wolves and bears, which makes this a rare combination of a serious cave and a family day out.
