Pennsylvania Route 6
Pennsylvania Byway · Wellsboro, Pennsylvania
The four hundred miles of US Route 6 that cross the northern tier of Pennsylvania, from the Delaware River at Matamoras to the Ohio line beyond Sharon, through country that has almost no interstate and almost no city. It runs along the top of the state past the Poconos, the Endless Mountains, Pine Creek Gorge, the darkest sky in the eastern United States and the Allegheny National Forest, and it is the through-route for most of what northern Pennsylvania has. National Geographic has named it among the most scenic drives in America, and the state protects the whole length as a heritage corridor.
