Miami's modern and contemporary art museum, in a Herzog and de Meuron building opened in 2013 that is raised on stilts against storm surge and hung with vertical gardens by Patrick Blanc. Its collection concentrates on the art of the Americas and the Atlantic world — the Caribbean, Latin America and the African diaspora — which is a deliberate rejection of the standard European survey.
