Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Arkansas State Park, Established 1977 The First Arkansas State Park Created In An Urban Area. Holds The Eastern Terminus Of The 223 Mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail And The Arkansas Arboretum. · Little Rock, Arkansas
Pinnacle Mountain is a cone of rock standing on its own above the Arkansas River valley twenty minutes west of downtown Little Rock, and it is the mountain the city climbs. The West Summit Trail is a mile of boulder scramble to the top; the East Summit is longer, steeper and less crowded; and between them they see more foot traffic than any other trail in Arkansas. The park was the first in the state created for a city rather than in spite of one, in 1977, and it also holds the Arkansas Arboretum and the eastern end of the 223-mile Ouachita Trail. There is no camping and no entrance fee. On a clear day the summit looks out over the river, Lake Maumelle and the whole eastern edge of the Ouachitas.
