Pioneer Courthouse Square

Public Square · Portland, Oregon

A public space occupying a full 40,000-square-foot city block in the centre of downtown Portland, opened in 1984 and known universally as Portland's living room. It is bounded by Southwest Morrison, Sixth Avenue, Yamhill and Broadway, built as a brick amphitheatre stepping down to a central stage, and it functions as the city's default meeting point, transit hub and event ground all at once.

Southwest Morrison Street, Portland, Oregon, 97204, United States

Open at all times and FREE. It is a public square rather than a venue. ⚠ ITS CHARACTER IS ENTIRELY EVENT-DRIVEN: on an ordinary weekday it is a paved amphitheatre where people eat lunch, and on event days it is full. The information centre and food kiosks keep their own and shorter hours. Programming runs year-round with the heaviest schedule in summer and at Christmas.
