National Historic Landmark · Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Philadelphia's children's museum, aimed squarely at the under-sevens, and housed in a building that is far more remarkable than the museum inside it: MEMORIAL HALL, the art gallery of the 1876 Centennial Exhibition, a National Historic Landmark and one of the very few structures from America's first world's fair still standing. The great domed hall now contains a hands-on city, a supermarket, a river play area and a restored 1908 carousel, which is a considerable change of use.
4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19131, United States
Open most days, generally 9 AM to 4:30 PM, with reduced days in winter and closure on major holidays — verify before travelling. Timed tickets; adults are charged full admission. The 1908 carousel is a small additional charge.
