Point Pleasant Beach and Jenkinson's Boardwalk
Promenade · Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey
The northern Jersey Shore's family boardwalk — about a mile of it at the mouth of the Manasquan River, anchored by Jenkinson's, which has run amusements here since 1928 and now includes an aquarium, a fun house, arcades, rides, minigolf and a very large amount of fried food. IT IS THE ANTITHESIS OF SPRING LAKE TEN MINUTES NORTH and both towns are entirely comfortable with that. The beach is clean and guarded, the inlet has a working fishing fleet, and the whole thing is aimed squarely at families with children under twelve.
300 Ocean Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, 08742, United States
A public boardwalk, free to walk. MOST OF IT IS SEASONAL — amusements and arcades generally open late morning to about 23:00 in high summer, with weekend-only operation at the shoulders and MOST OF THE BOARDWALK CLOSED FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL. JENKINSON'S AQUARIUM IS OPEN YEAR ROUND and is the wet-day and off-season option. BEACH BADGES ARE REQUIRED AND CHECKED IN SEASON and swimming is guarded during posted daytime hours only. Rides carry individual height restrictions and are ticketed separately or by wristband. Paid municipal lots and metered street parking only, expensive and scarce in summer. The town has imposed late-evening curfews and restrictions at various times.
