Point State Park

State Park · Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Thirty-six acres at the tip of downtown Pittsburgh, where the Allegheny and the Monongahela meet to form the Ohio. The confluence is why the city exists and why the French and the British fought over it: Fort Duquesne and then Fort Pitt stood on this ground, and the blockhouse of 1764 still does, making it the oldest structure in western Pennsylvania. A hundred-and-fifty-foot fountain marks the point itself, and the whole park is the front lawn of the Golden Triangle.

601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15222, United States
