Port Aransas

Beach Town · Port Aransas, Texas

A beach town on the north end of Mustang Island reached by a free ferry across the Corpus Christi ship channel, with eighteen miles of drivable Gulf beach, a working fishing fleet and a birding reputation that brings people from across the country in spring migration. Hurricane Harvey went straight over it in 2017 and the town rebuilt.

403 West Cotter Avenue, Port Aransas, Texas, 78373, United States

A public beach town, free to visit. ⚠ THE FERRY FROM ARANSAS PASS IS FREE AND RUNS AROUND THE CLOCK, but queues exceed an hour at peak times — the JFK Causeway from Corpus Christi is longer but often faster on holiday weekends. ⚠ A BEACH PARKING PERMIT IS REQUIRED to drive and park on the sand; stay on packed sand near the water. ⚠ Largely NO LIFEGUARDS and real rip currents — check the flags. Hurricane season June-November; the island evacuates.
