Powell Gardens

Botanical Garden · Kingsville, Missouri

Kansas City's botanical garden, on nine hundred and seventy acres of rolling former farmland thirty miles east of the city, with around six thousand varieties of plant and a quarter of a million put out in seasonal display. It is not a compact city garden - it is a landscape, with a chapel on a hill, a working fifteen-acre edible garden, a Perennial Garden and a Island Garden reached across a causeway. That scale is both the appeal and the reason it takes longer than people plan for.

1609 Northwest US Highway 50, Kingsville, Missouri, 64061, United States

Open daily, generally 9 AM to 6 PM in the warmer months and shorter hours in winter, with some winter closure days. Ticketed. The Festival of Lights runs in December on a separate evening schedule and is ticketed separately. Check the seasonal hours before travelling, because Kingsville is thirty miles from Kansas City.
