Prospect Park Zoo

Zoo · Brooklyn, New York

A twelve-acre zoo inside Prospect Park, run by the Wildlife Conservation Society, in a set of 1935 WPA buildings arranged around a sea lion pool. ⚠ IT IS DELIBERATELY SMALL AND DELIBERATELY AIMED AT YOUNG CHILDREN — it was rebuilt in 1993 around that idea after the old menagerie closed, and it is the best first zoo in New York City rather than a scaled-down Bronx Zoo.
