Puthia Temple Complex
Temple · Puthia, Rajshahi
The densest and finest cluster of historic Hindu temples in Bangladesh, gathered around a village green and the faded Puthia Rajbari palace east of Rajshahi city. The Puthia raj family built across three centuries and several styles: the terracotta-sheathed Govinda Temple, the tall Shiva Temple by the pond in full pancharatna form, the Jagannath/ratha temple, and a supporting cast of shrines, ponds and the columned Rajbari itself. Where Kantajew is one great building, Puthia is an ensemble - a walkable lesson in Bengal temple architecture in a single village.

Monument interiors keep ticketed Department of Archaeology hours, roughly 9-10 AM to 5-6 PM with an assumed weekly closed day (UNVERIFIED for 2026 - verify before a fixed-date visit); the green, exteriors and village are open through daylight hours daily, and actively worshipped shrines follow devotional rhythm rather than tickets.
