Quartz Mountain State Park
Oklahoma State Park On Lake Altus Lugert; Shares Grounds With The Quartz Mountain Arts And Conference Center · Lone Wolf, Oklahoma
A park in the Wichita Mountains' western outlier range, where bare granite domes and boulder fields rise straight out of the south-western Oklahoma plains above Lake Altus-Lugert. The granite here is about 500 million years old, weathered into rounded hills that glow orange at sunset, and the lake below supplies Altus and draws boaters, swimmers and anglers after largemouth bass, catfish and hybrid striped bass. Trails climb New Horizon and the Mount Pinchot area through prickly pear and scrub oak to views across the plains. The park shares its ground with the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center and its summer institute for young Oklahoma artists and musicians, so the lodge and amphitheatre fill with students in June and July. Camping, cabins and a beach round out the park.
22469 Lodge Road, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, 73655, United States
Park and campgrounds open year-round; park office 8 AM-7 PM daily. The lodge and conference centre keep their own hours and fill with the summer arts institute. A county burn ban was in force in September 2026 (check travelok.com or call 580-563-2238).
