Quy Nhon and Ky Co Beach
A Quiet Central Coast Port With A Calm Seafront, A Pagoda Lined Phuong Mai Peninsula And, Further Out, The Golden Sand Cove At Ky Co And The Cliff Path Of Eo Gio. Home To Cham Ruins At Thap Doi And The Thi Nai Lagoon. Far Fewer Foreign Tourists Than Nha Trang Or Hoi An · Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh
Quy Nhon is a working port city on the central coast of Binh Dinh province, with a calm curved seafront, a long city beach and far fewer foreign visitors than Nha Trang or Hoi An. The real draws lie outside the centre. Ky Co, a golden cove of fine sand and clear water, is reached by road to the Nhon Hai fishing village and then by a short boat ride. Next to it, Eo Gio is a cliff path and viewpoint where a small fee is charged at the gate. Back in town, the Cham brick towers of Thap Doi, the Tay Son museum, the Thi Nai lagoon with its long bridge and the Phuong Mai peninsula add history and views. Seafood is fresh and cheap, from grilled squid to crab and clams. The city beach is plain and the water is sometimes murky, so it is not the place for postcard scenery. The best coast lies north. Typhoons from October to December can close the beaches and the sea has strong currents. Quy Nhon suits those who want a quiet, local coastal town.
Quy Nhon seafront and the Phuong Mai peninsula, with Ky Co and Eo Gio beaches about 20 km north-east, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, Vietnam
The city beach and seafront are open all day and all night, FREE to walk. Ky Co and Eo Gio work in daylight hours, roughly from morning to late afternoon, and boats to Ky Co do not run in the dark or in rough seas. The Eo Gio path charges a small entry fee, and the Ky Co boat has its own fare, so confirm both. The Thap Doi towers can be viewed from outside at any time, while the Tay Son museum keeps office hours and is often CLOSED on Mondays; check first. During typhoon warnings, beaches, boats and paths are CLOSED. At Tet many shops and cafes shut.
