Radio City Music Hall

Theater · New York, New York

The largest indoor theatre in the world when it opened in December 1932, and still the largest auditorium of its kind — 5,960 seats under a ceiling of receding arches meant to evoke a sunset. It was built as part of Rockefeller Center, it nearly closed in 1978 and was saved by landmark designation, and it is home to the Rockettes, whose precision line has performed here since the opening night.
