The Rahmi Koc Museum is a museum of industry, transport and communications on the Golden Horn shore at Haskoy in the Beyoglu district of Istanbul. It opened in 1994 (confirm) and fills several buildings, the best known being the Lengerhane, a large old anchor foundry from the Ottoman navy yards (confirm its age), beside a quay where real vessels are moored. Inside are steam engines, locomotives, vintage cars and motorcycles, scientific instruments, machine tools, model ships, toys, radio and telephone sets and a section of everyday tools, and many exhibits can be touched or operated by visitors. On the water stand a full-size submarine that can be walked through and other ships and small craft, and on some days a boat takes passengers for a short Golden Horn trip (confirm). The Rahmi Koc Museum is commonly open Tuesday to Friday from about 9:30 am to 5 pm and on weekends from about 10 am to 6 pm, and is closed on Mondays (confirm days and hours). Last entry is normally about 30 to 45 minutes before closing. The submarine, the boat trip and some hands-on exhibits may keep their own times or close in bad weather, and school groups arrive on weekday mornings.
