Ramsagar
Lake · Dinajpur, Rangpur
The greatest of Bengal's excavated tanks: a man-made lake over a kilometre long south of Dinajpur town, dug in the mid-eighteenth century under Raja Ram Nath of the same Dinajpur raj line that completed Kantajew Temple - famine-relief employment and water supply on a monumental scale, by tradition employing over a million labourer-days. Embankments planted with old trees enclose the sheet of water, a ghat structure survives on the western bank, and the surrounds carry a national park designation with picnic grounds and a modest deer enclosure. It is the north's serenest set piece and the natural third stop of the Dinajpur day.
Ramsagar Road, Tejpur, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bangladesh
Open daily through daylight hours with a small park-pattern entry ticket (recalled BDT 20-50, UNVERIFIED); early morning and late afternoon are the tank's best hours, winter its best season, and weekend afternoons its family-picnic peak. The embankment circuit is walkable throughout.
