Raven Rock State Park
Subnational Park · Lillington, North Carolina
Four thousand eight hundred acres on the Cape Fear River at the fall line, where the Piedmont drops to the coastal plain, built around Raven Rock itself - a crystalline outcrop over a hundred and fifty feet high and a mile long, undercut by the river. It was called Patterson's Rock until the 1850s, when someone watched ravens roosting on its ledges and the name changed.
