Red Boiling Springs

Spring Town · Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee

A mineral springs resort town in Macon County that drew thousands of people a year in the early twentieth century to drink and bathe in five distinct types of spring water, and had eight hotels at its peak. A flood in 1969 and the collapse of the water cure took nearly all of it, but three of the historic hotels survive on the main street and at least one has continued to offer mineral baths. It is a small, quiet, slightly melancholy place and it is the only town of its kind left in Tennessee.

321 East Main Street, Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, 37150, United States

The town is public and open at all times. The historic hotels, dining rooms and mineral baths are small family operations with variable hours and seasons — TELEPHONE AHEAD before travelling, particularly for baths, which are by appointment. Some operations reduce or close in winter.
