Richmond National Battlefield Park

Battlefield · Richmond, Virginia

Thirteen separate sites scattered around Richmond covering the two campaigns fought to take the Confederate capital — the Peninsula Campaign of 1862 and Grant's Overland Campaign of 1864 — with the main visitor centre inside the ruined Tredegar Iron Works, the foundry that cast most of the Confederacy's artillery. All of it is free, and the earthworks at Cold Harbor are among the best preserved anywhere in the country.
