Rickwood Caverns State Park

Alabama State Park · Warrior, Alabama

A small limestone cave north of Birmingham, cut by an ancient sea and holding blind cave fish in its underground pools, with a spring-fed swimming pool on the surface above it that is the reason most families actually come. The cave tour is short and the park is modest — this is a half-day rather than a destination, and Cathedral Caverns an hour north is the cave to drive for. What it does have is a genuinely cold pool in a part of Alabama where that matters in July.

370 Rickwood Park Road, Warrior, Alabama, 35180, United States

Seasonal in practice. A small per-person day-use fee, with the cave tour and pool charged separately. The pool runs in summer only and the cave tour schedule reduces sharply outside the warm months, with some full closure days in winter — check alapark.com before travelling.
