Rifle River State Recreation Area

Four and a half thousand acres east of West Branch that were a private hunting and fishing preserve before the state took them on, which is why the ten lakes inside it and the headwaters of the Rifle River are in the condition they are. The river is blue-ribbon trout water and the park is the standard put-in for paddling it.
