Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
Privately Operated Public Aquarium · Toronto, Ontario
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is a large indoor aquarium in downtown Toronto, at the foot of the CN Tower and close to Union Station, the harbourfront and the Rogers Centre. It opened in 2013 and holds many thousands of animals in several million litres of water. Its signature is Dangerous Lagoon, a long underwater tunnel with a moving walkway where sharks, rays, sea turtles and shoals of fish pass overhead. Other galleries show jellyfish, a coral reef, Great Lakes and Pacific species, and hands-on touch pools. It is a good choice for families, school groups and rainy or cold days, for first-time visitors who want one sure thing in the city, and for anyone with a ticket to the tower next door. It is also crowded, especially on weekends and holidays, when timed entry and slow queues are normal, so buy tickets online ahead and confirm hours, show times and any rules on bags and strollers. Allow two to three hours.

The aquarium is generally open every day of the year, usually from morning into the evening, with changes on some holidays and for private events, so confirm hours on the day of your visit. Entry is by timed ticket, and the last admission is earlier than closing, so late arrivals may miss part of the visit. Dive shows, feedings and talks run at set times through the day and the schedule is posted at the entrance and online, so check it when you arrive. Weekends, school holidays and March break are the busiest periods, while weekday evenings are usually calmer. Some adult-only or special evening events are ticketed separately, so confirm before you plan.
