River North
Nightlife District · Chicago, Illinois
The blocks north of the Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue, which hold the largest concentration of art galleries in the United States outside Manhattan alongside most of the city's nightlife. It was warehouses and light industry until the 1970s, when artists took the cheap loft space — the galleries stayed and the rents did not.
