Robbers Cave State Park
Oklahoma State Park; Parking Pass Required · Wilburton, Oklahoma
A state park in the sandstone hills of the San Bois Mountains, built around the cave where outlaws including Belle Starr and, by legend, Jesse James and the Youngers are said to have hidden from the law in the 1870s and 1880s. The cave is a short climb above the valley through boulders and pines, and the rock walls around it are Oklahoma's best-known place to learn rock climbing and rappelling. Below, three small lakes hold trout stocked through the winter months, and the park has cabins, a lodge, campgrounds, stables and a 250-acre area for jeeps, ATVs and off-road vehicles. Autumn colour draws crowds through late October. The swimming pool is closed for the whole 2026 season, and Oklahoma's $10 daily parking pass is required here.
