Rock Bridge Memorial State Park
Subnational Park · Columbia, Missouri
Two thousand two hundred acres five miles south of Columbia, built around a karst landscape that has collapsed into itself - a natural rock bridge sixty-three feet wide, a sinkhole you walk down into, and the Devil's Icebox, a cave whose mouth breathes cold air out of the hillside all summer. The boardwalk through the sinkhole and under the bridge is the most-walked short trail in mid-Missouri, and the park is effectively Columbia's back garden.
5901 South Highway 163, Columbia, Missouri, 65203, United States
FREE and open daily, generally 6:30 AM to dusk, year round. THE DEVIL'S ICEBOX CAVE IS CLOSED TO ENTRY to protect its bat population from white-nose syndrome, and that closure has held for years - the boardwalk to the cave mouth remains open. Trails can close after heavy rain. There is no camping.
