Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site

Historic Site · Cooperstown, North Dakota

A Cold War launch control facility left exactly as the Air Force handed it over. Oscar-Zero, near Cooperstown, is the last intact Minuteman III missile alert facility of the 321st Missile Wing, which kept 150 missiles under the North Dakota prairie until the START treaties took them out in the 1990s. The tour goes down the lift into the launch control capsule, a steel box on shock absorbers where two officers sat 24 hours at a time with the keys. The launch facility at November-33, a silo a few miles away, is part of the same site.

555 113 1/2 Avenue NE, Cooperstown, North Dakota, 58425, United States

⚠ SEASONAL AND BOOKED - generally open mid-May to mid-September with guided tours at set times, and by appointment only outside that season. A modest admission is charged. THE UNDERGROUND TOUR TAKES VERY SMALL GROUPS because the lift and the launch control capsule physically limit numbers, and summer slots sell out; ring ahead. The November-33 launch facility a few miles away is part of the same site and the same ticket. Cooperstown is remote, so confirm your tour before making the drive.
