Free And Open All Year; Best In Spring And Autumn Migration. Part Of The Sackville Town Centre, Next To Mount Allison University. · Sackville, New Brunswick

Sackville Waterfowl Park is a free wetland park at the edge of the small university town of Sackville, New Brunswick, on the Tantramar Marsh near the Nova Scotia border. Boardwalks, paths and an interpretive building take you over ponds and marsh, where ducks, geese and many marsh birds feed and nest. The park covers roughly 55 acres and the boardwalk loop is about 3 km (confirm), flat and easy, so it suits families, casual walkers and birders alike. It is best in spring and autumn migration, when waterfowl pass through in numbers, and quieter in midsummer, when mosquitoes are bad in June. Allow one to two hours. It sits beside the Mount Allison University campus and the town centre, so a walk can be joined to coffee and the Sackville Farmers Market (confirm days and season). Fort Beausejour National Historic Site is a separate attraction nearby. Moncton is about 45 minutes away. The park is open all year, but winter walking means snow and ice.

The park is a town green space and is open all year, with no gate or admission charge. Daylight is the practical limit: the boardwalks are not lit, so visit between sunrise and sunset. The interpretive building and any staffed visitor facilities are seasonal and open limited hours, usually in summer, so confirm with the town of Sackville or the local visitor information before you plan on them. Boardwalk surfaces can be closed for repair after storms or spring flooding. Winter visits are possible, but snow and ice make the boards slippery, and some paths may not be cleared. The farmers market and shops in town keep their own separate hours.
