Salado
Heritage Village · Salado, Texas
A village on Salado Creek between Austin and Waco, sitting on the old Chisholm Trail crossing, which turned itself into an arts town — galleries, sculpture, working studios and a stone-built main street, with a spring-fed creek running through the middle of it. It was the first village in Texas to name itself an official cultural arts district.
423 South Main Street, Salado, Texas, 76571, United States
The village is free to walk and always open. ⚠ GALLERY HOURS ARE ARTIST HOURS — several open only part of the week and a Monday or Tuesday visit can find much of Main Street shut; come Thursday to Sunday and check individual galleries first. No individual attraction prices are stated here. Dining is limited midweek; Belton and Temple are fifteen minutes away.
