Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site
Historic House · Bonham, Texas
The house at Bonham that Sam Rayburn built in 1916 and lived in for the rest of his life, while serving forty-eight years in Congress and seventeen as Speaker of the House — longer than anyone before or since. Almost everything in it is his, left as it was when he died in 1961, including the car in the garage.
890 West Highway 56, Bonham, Texas, 75418, United States
⚠ HOURS, TOUR TIMES AND ADMISSION ARE NOT STATED HERE — I could not verify them. Check thc.texas.gov before travelling; THC sites commonly close one or two days a week and Bonham is not on the way to anywhere. ⚠ Access is likely by SCHEDULED GUIDED TOUR — confirm departure times. ⚠ Almost everything in the house is the family's own, left as it was in 1961, including the car in the garage. The Sam Rayburn Library in town is a separate institution.
