Thirty-seven acres on a hillside in Encinitas, four miles of trails through gardens arranged by region — Australia, South Africa, the Canary Islands, Central America — and the largest bamboo collection in the United States. It was Quail Botanical Gardens until 2009 and a good deal of the older signage in the county still says so.
