Sarika Waterfall
Multi Tier Waterfall In The Hills Of Nakhon Nayok, A Weekend Escape From Bangkok · Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Nayok
Sarika Waterfall is a forest waterfall in the hills north of Nakhon Nayok town, about 100 to 120 kilometres north-east of Bangkok, and one of the easiest real waterfalls to reach from the capital. The water drops down a series of rocky steps, commonly described as nine tiers, through shady evergreen forest on the southern edge of the Khao Yai range, with pools at the foot of several levels where people wade and swim. It is at its best in the rainy season and just after it, roughly from July to November, when the falls run full and white; in the dry months from about February to May the flow can shrink to a thin trickle over bare rock, so set expectations by season. Thai families and students pack the site at weekends, while weekdays are calm. Around it Nakhon Nayok offers a whole weekend: the wider Nang Rong falls, the long Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam, riverside gardens at Wang Takrai, rafting on the Nakhon Nayok river in the wet season, garden cafes, and the province's famous marian plums in early spring.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: Sarika Waterfall is open daily from about 8 am to about 4.30 or 5 pm, with last entry and swimming ending earlier, often about 4 pm, and rangers closing the falls or pools after heavy rain. Nang Rong and Wang Takrai keep similar daytime hours, roughly 8 am to 5 or 6 pm. The Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam crest is usually open to visitors during the day; check current access and hours. Rafting runs in the rainy season on morning and afternoon trips. The traps that ruin a day are driving out in the hot season for a waterfall that is barely flowing, arriving at noon on a Sunday to a full car park, being caught in the water when a flash flood comes down after upstream rain, and forgetting that parks close in the late afternoon. Confirm current times before relying on them.
