Sather Tower

The 307-foot campanile at the centre of UC Berkeley, modelled on the bell tower in St Mark's Square and holding a 61-bell carillon that is played live three times a day. Its lower levels are also, improbably, a fossil store — several hundred thousand specimens from the La Brea Tar Pits are kept inside the tower.
