Scandinavian Heritage Park
Open Air Museum · Minot, North Dakota
A city block in Minot given over to full-size replicas and relocated buildings from all five Nordic countries, opened in 1988 and built almost entirely by donation and volunteer labour. The centrepiece is a full-scale reproduction of the Gol Stave Church, a Norwegian timber church of about 1250, alongside a 240-year-old Norwegian storehouse actually shipped over and reassembled, a Danish windmill, a Finnish sauna, a Swedish dala horse and a Sigurd Olson memorial.
1020 South Broadway, Minot, North Dakota, 58701, United States
THE GROUNDS ARE FREE and open daily in daylight, year round. ⚠ THE VISITOR CENTRE, GIFT SHOP AND THE STAVE CHURCH INTERIOR ARE SEASONAL, generally open in the warmer months with a modest charge for guided interior access, and are closed in winter - so an off-season visit means the buildings from outside only. Parking is free. The park is on South Broadway in Minot, about ten minutes from the Dakota Territory Air Museum.
