Science Museum of Minnesota
Science Museum · Saint Paul, Minnesota
A large science museum on the bluff above the Mississippi in downtown Saint Paul, founded in 1907 and in its current riverfront building since 1999. It has the usual strengths — dinosaurs, a domed Omnitheater, a serious paleontology and anthropology collection — and one thoroughly odd one: the Questionable Medical Device collection, several hundred quack machines assembled by a local collector and displayed with considerable relish. The National Park Service runs a Mississippi River visitor centre inside the lobby, which is free to walk into.
120 West Kellogg Boulevard, Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55102, United States
Open most days with reduced days outside peak season — closed some Mondays, so check before travelling. Admission is charged, with the Omnitheater as a surcharge or a combination ticket, and touring special exhibitions charged additionally. The National Park Service Mississippi River visitor centre in the lobby is FREE and does not require a museum ticket. Parking in the museum ramp is charged.
