Seaside
Old Town · Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
The town that started New Urbanism — eighty acres of 30A beachfront master-planned from 1981 by Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk to prove that a walkable, mixed-use, front-porch town could still be built in America. It worked so completely that it was used as the set for The Truman Show, which is either the highest compliment or the sharpest criticism ever paid to it.
