Seaside Heights and Casino Pier
Promenade · Seaside Heights, New Jersey
The loudest mile on the Jersey Shore, and the one everybody has seen whether they know it or not. CASINO PIER'S JET STAR ROLLER COASTER ENDED UP STANDING IN THE OCEAN AFTER HURRICANE SANDY IN 2012 and the photograph went round the world as the image of the storm. The pier was rebuilt, a fire took the neighbouring Funtown Pier in 2013, and the town has spent a decade putting itself back together. It is arcades, rides, fried food and a wide free-to-walk boardwalk, and the restored 1910 DENTZEL-LOOFF CAROUSEL is genuinely beautiful.
800 Ocean Terrace, Seaside Heights, New Jersey, 08751, United States
A public boardwalk, free to walk. MOST OF IT IS SEASONAL — rides and arcades generally open late morning or midday and run to 23:00 or later in high summer, with weekend-only operation at the shoulders and MOST OF THE BOARDWALK CLOSED FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL; the restored carousel building keeps a longer season. BEACH BADGES ARE REQUIRED IN SEASON and swimming is guarded during posted daytime hours only. Rides are ticketed separately or by wristband with individually posted height restrictions, and Breakwater Beach waterpark is separately ticketed. THE TOWN HAS IMPOSED CURFEWS, BAG RESTRICTIONS AND BEACH CLOSURES on summer weekends in response to large crowds — check the current position. Paid parking only, expensive and scarce in summer.
