Seaside

Beach Town · Seaside, Oregon

A city of about seven thousand on the Clatsop County coast, and Oregon's oldest and busiest seaside resort. The name comes from Seaside House, a summer resort built in the 1870s by the railroad magnate Ben Holladay, and the town has been doing the same job ever since. A mile-and-a-half concrete Promenade runs above the sand, Broadway leads down to the sea through arcades and candy shops, and Tillamook Head rises at the southern end.

North Wahanna Road, Seaside, Oregon, 97138, United States

The beach and the Promenade are open at all times and are FREE, as every Oregon beach is public by law. ⚠ THE TOWN IS SEASONAL IN CHARACTER RATHER THAN IN OPENING: the arcades, shops and rentals run hardest from June to September and many keep short winter hours, though the Promenade and the beach are there in every month. Paid and metered parking operates near Broadway and fills on summer weekends.
