Seattle Aquarium
Aquarium · Seattle, Washington
A public aquarium on two piers of the Seattle waterfront, opened in 1977 and focused unusually tightly on the cold water immediately outside its windows - Puget Sound, the Salish Sea and the North Pacific - rather than on tropical display. The Ocean Pavilion, a third building opened in 2024, added a large tropical reef and a habitat you walk beneath. The giant Pacific octopus, the largest octopus species in the world, is the animal it is known for.
1483 Alaskan Way, Pier 59, Seattle, Washington, 98101, United States
Open daily, generally 9:30 AM to 6 PM with longer summer hours and last entry an hour before closing. Closed Christmas Day. Timed tickets. The Ocean Pavilion, opened in 2024, is included in general admission but has its own queue at peak times.
