Subnational Park · Casco, Maine
The state park on the northern shore of Sebago Lake - the deepest and second-largest lake in Maine, 316 feet at its deepest and the deepest lake wholly contained within New England. The park has sand beaches, a large campground, a boat launch and pine woods, and it is the closest good swimming lake to Portland. Its Abenaki name, sobagoo, means "it is the sea" - which is roughly what fifty square miles of water looks like from the shore.
