Sedgwick County Zoo
Zoo · Wichita, Kansas
A zoo on the western edge of Wichita, opened in 1971 on nearly two hundred and fifty acres, which makes it one of the largest zoos in the United States by land area and gives it room most city zoos do not have. Its elephant habitat is among the biggest in North America and holds a genuine herd rather than a pair, and the Downing Gorilla Forest and the Slawson Family Tiger Trek are the other two exhibits worth planning around. It is the most-visited outdoor attraction in Kansas.
5555 West Zoo Boulevard, Wichita, Kansas, 67212, United States
Open daily, generally 9 AM - 5 PM with seasonal variation and earlier winter closing; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. FREE parking. Train, boat and animal encounters are small extra charges.
