Sedona

City — Red Rock Country, Coconino National Forest; International Dark Sky Community · Sedona, Arizona

A small town surrounded by red sandstone buttes and spires at the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon, two hours north of Phoenix — one of the most visited scenic places in the American West. Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte and Devil's Bridge are reached by hundreds of miles of trails in the surrounding Coconino National Forest, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is built into the rocks, and the town is known for resorts, spas, galleries, jeep tours and the energy vortexes that draw spiritual visitors. It is an International Dark Sky Community. It is also very busy: traffic, parking and trailhead crowds shape every visit.
